About

“By teaching I see my reflection and become a better person”.

My name is Yalena Gamero, I moved here from Venezuela, I am married and I have two beautiful daughters which I call my Angels. They have taught me how to grow and become a better person and, in turn, have helped me understand teaching more deeply. I’ve worked in Education for 14 years, and gained my journey as a preschool, elementary, and higher education teacher. I earned my Bachelor’s in Communications and a Master’s in Literature. As a teacher I am always learning and on a journey towards achieving my goal to continually reinvent myself and transcend through education in people’s lives.

Approaches when learning

Approaches to Learning is not about specific knowledge content or skills. It is about how the child learns new skills. The role of teachers, parents, and other adults should be to provide opportunities for success. All children, regardless of learning style or special needs, can learn and be successful.

There are four main components of Approaches to Learning we use  in our school:

Eagerness and Curiosity (e.g., showing interest in stories, asking questions about how things work).

Persistence (e.g., trying again and again to button a shirt).

Creativity and Inventiveness (e.g., trying different ways of carrying a cup to keep it from spilling).

Planning and Reflection (e.g., talking about plans to build a fort)

Welcome...

Dear Parents,

Welcome to your child’s PreK-3 year! My name is Mrs. Yalena Gamero. I will be your child’s teacher this year.  Before the year gets underway, I’m taking this opportunity to let you know how excited I am that your child has been placed in my classroom.

I’m dedicated to making this a busy and challenging, yet productive and eventful year for all of my students.  The goal for this year is to get to know each other, cover a comprehensive curriculum, focus on all social emotional aspects of your child applying Conscious Discipline as part of our daily routine, promote challenging opportunities and have plenty of joyful learning encounters.

I will be communicating with you often about my classroom plans, your child’s progress, school events, and other activities as they arise.  I anticipate your full participation in order for your child to be successful this year.

Attached I have included a supply list, homework policy, behavior policies, rewards, and other important documentation that should be read in order to familiarize yourself with our classroom routine. Please take time to look through this packet.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Gamero.
